Natural Treatment for Heart Disease

Decker Weiss, N.D., a Naturopathic Cardiologist, discusses a naturopathic approach to heart disease. Dr. Weiss says only a very small percentage of people who have heart disease have a genetic cause behind the disease. He says inflammation and lifestyle habits lead to cardiovascular disease, which he describes as an imbalance in one of body’s repair mechanisms.

  1. so, where is the suggestion on what to do and what not to do? eating low fat? high fat? and what type of inflammation is he talking about? gluten causes inflammation. dairy products too. to much sugar can caus inflamation too. same for red meat that wasnt raised free range. so, what should someone eat and what should someone not eat? this topic is seriously frustrating!

  2. BUYER BE AWARE — MANY CONVENTIONAL MDs ARE CARELESS & IRRESPONSIBLE.

No one has to accept this information from the Naturopath as being factual; however, Naturopathic physicians have the right to present information as responsibly as conventional MDs. It is up to us, the consumers, to evaluate information by doing responsible research, reading, getting second opinions, and learning all that we can about what ails us, then decide our next course of action. Conventional MDs, who tote their years of training, do a great deal of harm to people. Some are even offended (their egos are bruised) when patients seek second opinions. If more of us sought second opinions before putting our lives in the hands of conventional physicians– fewer of us would suffer damage beyond repair.

Some conventional MDs are more interested in protecting themselves and their colleagues from getting sued than they are in protecting patients from getting harmed. Eight out of 10 times when doctors damage patients the damage cannot be reversed. Seldom do we ever find out about the damage done to us until years later. These doctors cover for each other; there are very little ethics involved. Once they start practicing (especially in private groups) they completely forget the Hippocratic Oath – First do no harm. Instead, some doctors are about over-treatment and getting as much money from insurance companies and patients as they possibly can. BUYER BE AWARE. TRY TO IDENTIFY AND WORK WITH ONLY ETHICAL PHYSICIANS BE THEY CONVENTIONAL OR NATUROPATHIC.

  3. Naturopathic "physicians" have no oversight or evidence based medicine training. They are more into marketing themselves and are not primary care providers. They will ignore the literature and promote their pseudoscience, see a real doctor an MD.

  8. Why not avoid ALL oils all the time?
    They're just calorie dense fats!
Research 'water frying' with broth or water.
It's hard to avoid it in restaurants, but there hasn't been any oils in our kitchen for 2 years… And I don't miss the cost or the calories.
